In our line of work perhaps the most popular colour we use without a doubt…is white.
White is the colour of purity, its fresh clean and does not over stimulate the senses.
In addition it works well with everything else; it is to coin the phrase “a blank canvas”.
In colour psychology white is the colour of new beginnings, wiping the slate clean, in a manner of speaking.
A simple white room can suddenly become a vibrant and creative environment with the addition of some brightly coloured accessories or feature walls painted in a strong colours or a relaxing haven with cosy muted natural tones and hues.
While there are very few negative connotations to white, too much white can be cold, isolating and empty. It implies a feeling of sterility.
However not all whites are created equal there are lots of different shades of white available out there, Farrow and Ball do approximately 20 plus different whites and the Little Green Paint Company do around the same.
So with choices such as “old white” “Cornforth white” “cabbage white” “wevet” “shirtling” and “white lead” white need never be boring again.
